I’m a grass eater

So I’ve been addicted to this song for the past three days, and dear lord isn’t it something special.

And btw one of the most interesting items on my bucketlist is to become a goat, here is a song which I wrote expressing my feelings.

I’m a grass eater
Allegro in C major

I like to be what I am not
A big black goat
But hey why not?
My life is mine and it’s a fact.

I like to be what I am not
Perhaps a big white goat
But hey why not?
My life is mine and it’s a fact.

Wake up in the mornin’
And i picture myself strayin’
On the grass

Cos’ I’m a goat, it’s not a lie

Now that I am chillin’
Through the oceans of my dreams
I want to be happy in reality

I’m a grass eater.

Man vs Stomach

January, the 15th, 2015…

As I was strolling along the streets near my college, my tongue fell prey to all the aromas and flavours of the street side food. My mouth was watering from the delightful smell of the masalas emanating from the various stalls, and my stomach was crying for proper food, having being tortured for many months, with the barely edible food served in the hostels. It was a great set up for a great fable – one featuring my stomach, and an unlikely antagonist.

The technological revolution

Been quite a while hasn’t it fellas?

How’ve you all been?

Gnomy7 has been busy, you might say, or perhaps he was just wandering away without any sight.

Anyway, I recently wrote for a local magazine, and here it is

Ah, what a relaxing way to be reading the blog… as you read this, you are probably lying down on your cosy bed and reading it on your tablet, or perhaps on your smart phone after yet another tiring day at work. At work too most of us stare perennially at the monitor, and take breaks by playing games on our computer.

Technology, needless to say, has crept into our lives and has taken it by a storm! Think of how many of us can exist without connecting with someone else over the internet, or worse still without any form of electronic media. Such is the proliferation of technology today, that we lose our minds, if we are deprived of any of our ‘basic rights’, at least if you are living in countries such Finland or Estonia, where broadband access is a basic right for its citizens.

A journey through my classical music playlist

Last week, a friend of mine asked me to suggest an artist which he would have never heard before, and I said, try Beethoven. Poor chap thought I was joking, so I laughed it away and acted like I was joking after all.

But he doesn’t know what he is missing out on, but I don’t want all my awesome followers, to miss out on it as well.

So, I thought maybe I will pen down a list of my favourite ‘classical’ music compositions.  So here is top 10 favourite classical music list.

Quest for zest

At ** years of age, it may seem a bit prudent of me to be writing about stuff I may be too young to  understand, for when I look at younger people, most of them are immediately discounted off as being ‘too young’.  What then is the right age to wake up to the surroundings and take your stance on it, sans any dents from all the external agents. In the end, it is pretty simple, you are as young as you want to be, or perhaps, you are as old as you want to be.But isn’t age but a number? It sure is, and it has only stuck because it’s really convenient as a standard.

We only live to discover beauty. All else is a form of waiting.

All these chains

Aah chains… all those Gold and blitz and riches adorned by women and men alike…
We might adorn them all right, but I am not quite talking about these chains.Chains rule us in ways most of don’t realize, in fact we are bound by them.

It is indeed a grim but hardened reality that we are bound by the chains of geography, chains of locality and the chains of time, and seemingly there is little we can do about it.

What’s up at WhatsApp?

Not even in my wildest dreams would I have imagined myself in such a tight and busy schedule, with no time for anything at all. Hopefully this will change real soon.

So meanwhile, I thought I would share something that I already share with many of my friends, by means of my WhatsApp status. I think I would be the one who abuses the space the most, by using it for a wide range of things, including a personal diary, remainder, place for posting random obfuscated thoughts wandering through my mind, new titles for my posts, terrible jokes, pathetic cryptic clues ,and what not.So I thought I would share it here.

Maybe this would be a better audience for all those anecdotes.
I am posting ALL most of my Whatsapp statuses, sorted – oldest first.

An open letter to rain.

Dear Rain,
Just like so many other people in my life, you have no idea about your significance in my life. For you, I am just an other guy, but for me you are more than just that, you are more than just an occasional visitor, more than just, the once best friend who now, calls you only on your birthday. But you are not special because I love you, not  because I hate you either, but instead because I can not decide my stance.

An ode to Wikipedia

It’s really amazing when you think about the advances made by the human race; just in the past few decades and in the past centuries.A very important reason for this advancement is the ability to share information; that is share the information you acquired to your fellow humans so that collective learning takes place. In case of other animals all the information it acquires during a life time is lost when it dies. That is, there is no scheme by which information is passed on through the generations. This is where communication and sharing of information comes into play.

All the information obtained by all the other human beings can effectively be learnt by you in today’s world.

wiki

Close to a hundred billion people have lived on the face of this planet, and all the facts and ideas we have was learnt by someone, somewhere, at some point in time.

This is how we differ from other animals; the information acquired by the animal is lost when it dies. So the only way most species can evolve, to become smarter is by trusting their luck to random genetic mutation. If a favourable ‘mistake’ in the gene happens, the species learn to keep the ‘mistake’ and hence, in a way passing on some information to future generations.

All this just goes on to show how important storing and sharing the information you acquire is of prime importance; just gathering information does not suffice.[1]

Now, just imagine for a second that there is a place where, you store all the information relating anything for free access by anyone at any time. Well, you can stop imagining and head over to www.wikipedia.org.

I owe a lot of what I am today to this single place on the internet, Wikipedia.

Patriotism in the age of globalization.

“It was all dark, gloomy and sticky. I was floating around in a desolate place with barely enough room for me to crouch and fit into the small confined place. During my entire stay I was fed using a tube and had to survive – without even a touch of sunlight. When I finally made my way out, I chose to land in the country of my choice.”
Well, this is obviously from a tale which never happened, simply because none of us got to choose where we popped up; and yet we always tend to have this sense of pride hovering around the location of our birth!

There more I think about it, the more it fascinates me; When humans stopped foraging and instead started farming and as a result began settling down instead of wandering- the first thoughts of association based on settlements started to appear. Along with civilization, which has evolved and still continues to evolve exponentially, the notions of patriotism and nationalism have grown too.
